My illicit love affair with bacon has been known for some time. Call it illegal. Call it unconscionable. Call it lust, but the fact remains: Bacon is one of, perhaps the, most powerful flavor source in the known galaxy.

The Dining & Wine section of the New York Times continues to impress me with the quality, range and depth of articles they put out. Such topics include not only food and drink, but also urban/home gardening, composting and other issues related to the growing "good food" movement.

Consider the following:

• a 2 acre urban garden supplementing the diets of 10,000 people with fresh, locally grown produce
• the elements of a perfect burger

• beer cocktails--WTF, mate?
• Take beer into your own hands: grow your own hops
• Seal, anyone?

Professional Development

I decided to make a hasty list of some of the things I've done over the last year or so, in terms of professional development. I expect that this list will serve two primary functions: 1) to inform my future future development by helping me identify weak points; and 2) to assist me in giving concrete examples of the things I've done in future job interviews.

After having completed the list, I realized this as well: when you take the time to note down the things you've done/learned over the last year, it can add up to quite a bit!
